Privacy Policy
AWAITING_LEGAL_REVIEW to false in this page’s source to remove this notice. The short version
Paperora is built to keep your documents on your phone. Scanning, PDF creation, PDF editing and text recognition all run on the device — your pages are not uploaded to us, and we never see the contents of what you scan. The only time a document leaves your phone is when you choose to share it, or when you connect Google Drive and ask Paperora to save there.
What stays on your device
Your document library, folder structure, tags, favorites and app settings are stored locally on your phone. We do not operate a server that holds your scans, and we have no way to read them.
Camera and photos
Paperora asks for camera access so you can photograph a page, and for access to the photos you pick when you import an existing image. Those images are processed on the device to produce a PDF. They are not sent to us.
Text recognition (OCR)
Text recognition runs on the device using Google’s on-device ML Kit. The page image and the recognized text stay on your phone.
Google Drive (optional, Android)
If you connect Google Drive in Settings, Paperora requests only the Drive file scope — permission to create and manage the files it puts there. It creates or reuses a Drive folder named Paperora and saves your library documents into it. Paperora does not request your name, profile photo or email address. Disconnecting in Settings revokes the grant; documents already saved to Drive stay in your Drive account and are governed by Google’s terms from that point on.
Advertising
The free version of Paperora shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. Like most mobile ad networks, AdMob may use your device’s advertising identifier and general device information to select and measure ads. It does not receive the contents of your documents. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings, and the Pro upgrade removes ads entirely.
Analytics and app performance
Paperora uses Google Firebase to understand how the app is used — for example, which screens are opened and whether a feature crashed. This data is about app behavior, not about document content. It helps us find bugs and decide what to build next.
Purchases
The Pro upgrade is sold through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment and tells the app whether a purchase is active. We never see your card details.
Files opened from other apps
When another app opens or shares a PDF or text file into Paperora, that file is shown in a preview-only viewer. It is not copied into your Paperora library and it is not sent anywhere.
Children
Paperora is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
