Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 November 2026

Draft. This text describes how the Paperora app actually behaves, but it has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. Review it before the site goes live, then set AWAITING_LEGAL_REVIEW to false in this page’s source to remove this notice.

Agreement

These terms apply when you use the Paperora app or this website. By installing or using Paperora, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Your licence to use Paperora

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Paperora on devices you control. You may not copy, sell, rent, reverse-engineer or redistribute the app, or remove any notices from it, except where the law expressly allows it.

Your documents are yours

Everything you scan, import, create or edit in Paperora belongs to you. We claim no ownership over it and, because documents stay on your device, we have no access to it. You are responsible for keeping your own backups: uninstalling the app, clearing its data, or losing the device will remove documents that have not been saved elsewhere.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Paperora to:

  • scan, copy or alter documents you have no right to scan, copy or alter;
  • create forged or misleading documents, or misrepresent a signature as someone else’s;
  • break any law that applies to you; or
  • interfere with the app’s operation or with other users’ devices.

Free version, ads and Pro

Paperora is free to download and is supported by advertising. An optional Pro upgrade is available through Google Play as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Subscriptions renew until you cancel them in Google Play; refunds and cancellations are handled by Google under Google Play’s own terms. Pro benefits may change over time, and we will not remove a benefit you have already paid for within a purchased term.

Third-party services

Paperora uses Google services — Play Billing for purchases, AdMob for advertising, Firebase for analytics, ML Kit for scanning and text recognition, and Google Drive if you connect it. Your use of those services is also subject to Google’s terms.

Availability and changes

We may add, change or remove features, and we may stop supporting older Android versions or discontinue the app. We will give reasonable notice of significant changes where we can.

No warranty

Paperora is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that scanning, conversion, compression or text recognition will be error-free, or that a converted file will perfectly reproduce its original. Check any document that matters before you rely on it or send it.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost documents, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Paperora. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death, personal injury or fraud.

Ending this agreement

You can end this agreement at any time by uninstalling Paperora. We may suspend or end your licence if you breach these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION — confirm with counsel], and the courts of [JURISDICTION — confirm with counsel] have jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any consumer rights you have where you live.
